This document covers how to approach work-related expenses at Avo.

Expenses can either be:

Avo reimburses all reasonable business expenses after they are approved. Following are a few guidelines to follow.

Equipment budget

We all have different preferences and opinions when it comes to the equipment we need to deliver our best work. Therefore we believe you should make the decisions on how you allocate your equipment budget, and not your manager or someone else.

The equipment budget is split in two:

  1. Kickoff budget: $4,500 USD (630,000 ISK) when you join the team. You can use this budget to buy the equipment you need to set up the work environment that makes you productive in your role at Avo. This budget should cover:
    1. Workstation (usually a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro, depending on your needs)
    2. Office and/or home-office improvements
    3. Mobile device (if you need one)
  2. Annual budget: $1,500 USD (210,000 ISK) for every full year you work at Avo. You can use this budget to renew and improve your equipment and work setup. This budget should cover:
    1. Renewing your workstation every 3-4 years
    2. Renewing your mobile device every 2-3 years
    3. Other equipment and work setup improvements

You should have access to an Equipment Budget Google Sheet, where you can keep track of your purchases and your equipment budget balance. If you don’t have such Sheet yet, or you have a Sheet that doesn’t show a budget balance, please ask your manager.

Few things to keep in mind when allocating your equipment budget:
